I have been busy all day and here is a sneak peek at my half finished projects!
I had to prove to you that I had an excuse for not writing a post today :). The following was originally published in August, 2013 but I thought to share again today…tbt? Thanks for your patience with my poor blogging etiquette!
The second I saw it, I fell in love. The shape and detail on this vanity are amazing. This 1930’s gem was coming home with me – had to have it!
Here it is reloved and redone in a French Provence blue…
The distressing really brought out the details and now they pop.
The mirror is old and lovely. The glass is vintage but clear and the shape divine.
All of the drawers open and close easily and there is a drawer in the center that opens as well. I can picture this piece in an old European home and also in a current teenager’s room. It’s that versatile.
1930’s love!

She is Gorgeous! French Provence Blue? Custom mix, maybe? The details are so beautiful…and do I see a little Old Ochre peaking through, or is that a trade secret? Love it, Love it, Love it.

You did a wonderful job on this piece! Its a real stunner:)

Beautiful beautiful piece. Thank you for showing us — your pieces can really brighten my day!
Question: with all the grooves and crevices on the vanity, did you have to sand in those gaps? How did you do that?
I am currently re-doing a bookcase with “fluted” sides and having a frustrating time sanding between those 3/16 of an inch crevices!
Tried a homemade ‘cuticle stick sander”, some sandpaper wrpped around a paint stir stick, and even folding up some sandpaper to fit. Not very successful 🙁
Any more effective secrets or suggestions out there?

Hi Mary, I actually just use the sandpaper (usually 150 or 220 grit) and fold it around my sanding sponge. I hold it at an angle and it allows me to get in the small spaces. You can always also use a wet wipe, if the paint is not too dry yet. Thx!

Love the vanity. I just found one too but may turn it into a bathroom vanity with a vessel sink. Although after seeing this I may want to just paint it blue like you! Visiting from MMS.

Thanks so much! Good luck with your project. Adding a sink sounds pretty neat, too 🙂

Would have loved to see more of the drawer detailing made to stand out, perhaps a lighter wash of color or more distressing.
Suzanne
Hi Eli, that is an interesting idea. I believe if I had either watered down the paint or distressed any more off, I may as well have not painted it. Thanks so much!
