It’s amazing what stripping a heavy coat of shellac can do! After refinishing the top and painting the body in General Finishes Milk Paint, the old traditional desk has become the farmhouse table.
The color is General Finishes Halcyon Blue and I used their High Performance Top Coat in the flat finish to seal the whole piece. I feel the blue complements the newly refinished top and allows those details to pop.
The table has fantastic details and great curves and feet.
I love a piece that is beautiful from all sides.

so pretty! i love those feet!
Looks great! When I followed the link to Rockler (who I’ve ordered from before) I searched the high endurance topcoat and they do not list the matte – only satin, semi gloss and gloss. Could it be they are out of stock and remove it from their options until it’s back in stock? I definitely prefer the matte for over paint and the satin for natural wood.
Hi Cora – oops, I meant “flat” finish. Sorry for the confusion. I just edited the post and changed it. Thanks so much! I hope you can find it now! Suzanne
