When I was sent a sample of General Finishes’ Persian Blue, I had try it. My husband is Iranian and my children all have Persian Blue eyes!
The lovely vanity that I purchased last weekend (Favorite Find Monday) was the perfect candidate for the paint. Sorry it seems that I am on a desk/vanity painting frenzy lately. This one had so much detail I couldn’t wait!
I’m sure you all remember the “before” from Monday. Here is the after!
The desk is so long that to get a good close-up I had to take pictures of it in sections…
Can you believe the detail in this piece?
The wood top has been refinished and looks gorgeous with its golden striations. I plan on finishing the matching mirror, dresser and nightstand the same color. This piece is perfect as a desk as well as a vanity. For those who may claim that older furniture should not be painted, I believe this one proves that when done right, paint can enhance a piece and bring out its beauty and not mask it.

What a beautiful desk in a great color!

Absolutely beautiful….I love the color. I knew it would be spectacular when you worked your magic.

This truly is beautiful, definitely a keeper!!

Are you listing the mirror and nightstands separately from this piece? I have a similar piece with matching mirror that is a vanity and part of a bedroom set. Do you have any other pieces of the set? What a beautiful bedroom this would make as a complete set!
Suzanne
Hi Cathy, yes I have the matching mirror, dresser and one nightstand. I called it a desk but it likely is a vanity with the mirror hanging on the wall instead of attached to the top of the piece. I was thrilled to get it! Working on the mirror this week and hope to set it up to share pics of it as a vanity. Thanks so much!

Hi there everybody, here every one is sharing such knowledge, so it’s pleasant to read this
weblog, and I used to go to see this blog every day.

Epic! And don’t mind people who say you shouldn’t paint furniture, they are just conservative morons! BTW – did you distress the details or did you use a black or brown glaze? Thanks
Suzanne
Thx so much! The original wood is what shows. I didn’t dark wax or glaze. Thx and I guess you read the Hometalk comments lol?!

“For those who may claim that older furniture should not be painted” – I saw this and it immediately reminded/upset me of my old grumpy neighbor who always walks by and suggest I just leave it alone and don’t paint it, drives me absolutely crazy! haha. I just did my first piece in Persian Blue after seeing your blog, I bought a commode off a French gentlemen and Persian Blue actually works remarkably well for achieving French Provincial style, even though I am Persian and that is why I originally bought the paint, I can’t help but call it French Blue now 🙂 I facebook messaged you the piece I did!
