I posted last week about the very, very old chest…Well, turns out I was right about the age!Ā Ā Saundra in WisconsinĀ was reading my blog and was amazed that there was a picture of a chest almost identical to theĀ one she inherited from herĀ husband’s grandmother.Ā She believesĀ her pieceĀ originated fromĀ Finland and dates from 1900.Ā Fascinating!Ā She is getting hers worked on by a carpenter and painted.Ā I will post a pic of it when she sends it along!Ā In the meantime, here is my french country yellow and blue farmhouse chest…
I just am so happy with the way it turned out.Ā The yellow really compliments the thickĀ golden top that really stands out now after being refinished…
Ā I painted the interior blue…
and it isĀ all nice and clean and ready to go to a new home.Ā
Hopefully its new home willĀ appreciate it and treat it with the respect everyĀ beautiful old piece deserves!

Oh how I would love to have an old piece like your dresser. Pretty color on her. Glad you left the top natural, so nice. I see so many pieces now with top left with wood look and body painted, such a great look, loving it. Love the sunny yellow, would be so cheerful to have in a room. Your dresser would be gorgeous in a dining room as a buffet also. Great job. Glad I found your post on Furniture Feature Friday. Always enjoy looking at many good posts. Lots of inspiration.
I love this piece so much! Can you tell me what brand yellow paint you used? Thanks!
Bi Julie, it’s General Finishes Somerset Gold. Thanks!
Thanks so much. It’s really one of the best redos I’ve ever seen.
Thank you, Julie!
