Someone, at one point in the past, had the brilliant idea, “I should glue formica to the top and sides of this dresser!” No joke, they seriously did. Poor thing.
However, completely worth the effort to save it!
I painted a base coat of cream with a slight pink hue and the top coat is linen white milk paint. I wanted to glam it up and gave the drawers the gold stenciling.
It was too “done” for my taste. I decided to go over the stenciling with sandpaper (almost painful to do after all the effort to apply!) and then added a wash on top. I also added a touch of gold to the top’s sides.
It was exactly the look I was striving for.

Really beautiful! I love the stencil you used. Please could you share where you got it from? I would love to do my table top with it. Regards Tracey

Hi Tracey, it is Martha Stewart. You can likely find at Home Depot or online – have fun with your project!

Brilliant! I’ve already pinned it, although I think this is way above my ability! But I can always dream and have something to aspire to! 🙂

Beautiful work! Thank you for sharing! Wondering what kind of gold paint you used… regular acrylic or something else?
Suzanne
The gold paint is Martha Stewart Living Metallic Paint in the color “Vintage Gold” – thanks!
Zoe
Just beautiful! Did you use a dark wax on it to get the shading?
Suzanne
No, I sanded back the linen white milk paint and the darker cream shows through in places – giving it an aged look. Thanks!
