A well-decorated room can significantly boost your home’s resale value, as well as making the space appear more dynamic and interesting. However, when it comes to home renovations – we often chose to focus on furniture above all else – which means the majority of the walls in our home are left neglected, decorated with nothing more than a coat of paint.

With that in mind, here are some top tips that you can use to brighten up boring walls – whether they are in your bedroom, entryway, or dining room!
Add a splash of color. Adding a fresh coat of paint to your walls, especially in a bright or contrasting color, is a great way to transform the way in which the space feels. For example, if all of the walls in your bedroom – painting one a pale shade, such as blue or lavender, can help create a more relaxing atmosphere – as well as making the space look more interesting. Alternatively, you could add wallpaper or paneling to one of the walls. If you are living in a rental property, you can use peel and stick wallpaper. This is a great way to shake things up a little and can even make your room appear bigger.
Get creative with stencils. Using stencils to decorate your walls is another great way to brighten up what otherwise would be a pretty dull and boring space. You can create your own stencils or purchase templates online – and then use your favorite colors to bring them to life. Check out this stencil walls tutorial for some guidance.
Hang wall art. Hanging wall art is perhaps the easiest way to liven up your walls – and it also gives you the chance to support local artists. While paintings and canvases always look great – don’t be afraid to experiment with something a little more unusual too. For example, a Kinetic Wood Sculpture is a great way to add the ‘WOW’ factor to your home and will look great in just about any room.
Make a statement with a mural. A wall mural can truly transform the entire room – and they are most effective in nurseries, playrooms, or children’s bedrooms – as these are the kind of spaces where you can really let your creativity soar. For example, you can create a wall mural featuring their favorite TV, book, or film characters.
Create a photo collage. Do you have hundreds of photos saved on your phone or tucked away in albums where they are left to gather dust? Why not create a photo collage with them instead – that way, you’ll be surrounded by happy memories each day. Creating your own collage wall is easy – you could simply frame the photographs or have them turned into tiles or canvases – and then add them to your wall. Before hanging the photographs, try out a few different layouts to find the one that fits the best. While you may be tempted to keep all of the prints the same size – experimenting with sizes is a great way to create a visually dynamic collage.
