Signs that Your Kitchen Needs a Facelift
It’s easy to skate by and ignore your kitchen’s flaws, especially when you remember how much it costs to get your kitchen refurbished. But, there are certain situations that call for a complete or total facelift. How do you know when? Perhaps you caught a glimpse of your neighbors kitchen and are now struck with a bad case of ‘I want that too’. There are so many reasons you could lean towards getting your kitchen renovated. Nevertheless, if you really want to know for sure, here are some sure signs that your kitchen needs a pick-me-up.
- Everything is Unreachable
In most old kitchens, the plan was not to design something ergonomic and fluid. You see, there are three major access points in every kitchen and they are the cooker, fridge, and oven. In the case that these three are too far from each other, then you are going to move around a whole lot. That does not sound bad if you are trying to register some steps in your Fitbit, but the truth of the matter is that it’s stressful. Whether you often cook up a storm or not, you need to bring them a little closer for safety as well as comfort reasons.
- Poor Lighting
Regardless of the room, lighting is undoubtedly everything. More than most rooms in a home, you need to look for ways to perfect the lighting in the kitchen. It’s a very intricate topic altogether because it’s not just about lighting up the entire space but you also need to think about the kitchen cabinets; both inside and under. If you’ve noticed that your kitchen looks dim and dull, then you need to think about introducing some light.
- Your Cabinets Are Damaged
When it comes to storage, kitchen cabinets are major players. So, when you’ve got a bad case of mould or a disfigured cabinet, that’s a very loud cry for help. No one is telling you to get custom made cabinets, but if you can pay for it, then why not? It’s not about the age of the cabinets, so do not make that mistake. If you opt for a really good quality option, then it can last for half a century. So, if your cabinets are breaking down, it’s time for that facelift.
- It’s Always Dirty
If your kitchen floors and countertops no longer respond to both chemical and natural cleaning products, there’s a problem. You can wipe as much as you can, but those grooves and crevices will remain the same. This is mostly a function of old age, so, it’s not your fault, it’s bound to happen over time. That being said, it’s time to give your kitchen surfaces what they need – an entire facelift.
Altogether, upgrading your kitchen at this point is more a necessity than a luxury, to guard against any germ and bacteria infestations. So, if this is the case in your kitchen, you need to get that facelift!
