When the summer arrives, most of us just love spending time outside, whether it’s gardening or drinks in the sunshine. But when we’ve had enough sunbathing, the last thing we want is to return to a house that’s too hot and stuffy. To keep your home lovely and cool this summer, try using these five simple ideas.
1 . Summer bedding
First things first, you’ll struggle to sleep during the summer unless you have the right bedding. It’s advisable to choose light fabrics that will keep your skin cool and promote ventilation. Linen sheets are one of the best sheets for the summer months; they are breathable and will keep you nice and comfortable.Percale sheets are another summer favorite; you’ll find that these feel both airy and crisp. Tencel fabric has moisture-wicking properties, so these sheets are great for those who are prone to sweating.
2 . Choose the right blinds
It’s best to take down your thick curtains in the summer and replace these with a thinner fabric or some blinds. Venetian blinds are excellent for heat reduction, plus these have an attractive and contemporary look. If your home has a conservatory, it’s advisable to use a Venetian blind made of aluminum. These blinds will keep the temperature nice and cool. Blackout blinds are great if you want to sleep in, but bare in mind the dark colors will absorb more heat.
3. High-quality fans
Using fans is one of the easiest ways to control the temperature of your home. It’s important to choose a high-quality fan if you want both durability and performance. Tower fans are one of the best types of fans available. These fans are tall, slim, and lightweight. A tower fan does not have visible blades; the motor and blades are positioned inside the fan casing. These fans have a wide appeal due to their high performance. One of the best things about tower fans is that they also have an air filtration system.
4. Air conditioning
Without a doubt, the very best way to keep your home cool is to use an air conditioning unit. There are so many benefits to investing in air conditioning for your home. Most obviously, you’ll keep the temperature in your house nice and refreshing throughout the summer. Secondly, air conditioning units can help to remove allergens from the air. Besides this, you’ll have a cool spot to do all those at-home workouts you’ve been meaning to get around too! If you have a non functioning air conditioner, it’s best to book air conditioning repair as soon as you can.
5. Change your habits
A few changes in your daily habits can make all the difference to keep your house cool. Only use your lights and appliances when it’s absolutely necessary. If you have too many electrical appliances switched on at once, this can cause your home to overheat. Another thing you can do is stop cooking inside, and use your outdoor grill instead. Using the oven will also raise the temperature in your home, so the more BBQs- the better!Once you’ve cooled down your home, you’ll be ready to create some summer interior design styles! In 2020, bright shades of yellow and orange are really trending.
