Once upon a time, there was a very long, straight lined dresser that had seen better days. It still had great lines and was just crying out for a makeover.
Christina saw it on my site and purchased it. She had seen the Midnight Sideboard and we decided the color and technique would look amazing on this piece.
And now, the dresser has gone glam! I used General Finishes Lamp Black and their High Performance topcoat in flat to give it a durable finish. I also distressed it along the edges to add interest.
The top was full of scratches. After wood filler and a good sanding, it came out super smooth.
The old brass handles were polished up to give them back their shine and I found four vintage pulls out of my stash to add to the top drawers. They were the perfect addition.
This is one piece that was hard to part with. I feel it would look amazing in a dining room as a sideboard as well as in a bedroom. I also happen to love the newly polished brass feet!
Parting is such sweet sorrow!
Total Glam! Love it!
yup, i pretty much love this one!
Lucky Christina. It turned out beautifully!

Wow! Love it. I have very similar matching pieces I am getting ready to paint…in black! Already have nightstand completed – black is perfect.
That piece is gorgeous. Amazing what a coat of paint and a skilled hand can do. Nice work!
I feel your pain with this one. Beautiful x
I love it! It looks gorgeous in black. I redid I think the exact dresser.
Suzanne, I love the Lamp black as well. When distressing, I dulled the paint next to the edges but I assumed the wax would correct it. Wrong. I applied Paste wax over the paint but every swirl mark shows and I can NOT buff them out. I did not know of anything else but wax to use at that time. This is the only GF paint color I have used. Is it because it is black and unforgiving or are all the colors this way? Is Wax a No-No to put on top of Milk paint?
I do not mind the dull finish, I was just trying to protect against fingerprints etc.
Any suggestions on what to do now short of starting over?
Thank you in advance! Lynette
this is so pretty!!! the clean lines…black….brass….all components of a great looking piece of furniture!!
Thanks, Kayla!!
