One of the most difficult things about decluttering your home is figuring out where to put all of your stuff. After all, most of us declutter and simply throw out our stuff, but what if we want to keep it? What if we really have some valuable things in our home but they’re just taking up too much space?
In this post, we’re going to help you make the final steps to declutter your home by offering you suggestions on what to actually do with all of the treasure (or junk) that you’ve accumulated.

Store it somewhere safe
It doesn’t really make sense to just store your stuff in another cupboard once you’ve sorted it all out. Of course, it’s a different case if you’ve managed to compact all of your stuff into boxes or bags and have a better way to organize it. However, clutter is still clutter and it should generally be kept to a minimum. If you can’t bear throwing away everything, then it’s perfectly fine to store it somewhere safe. Just don’t store it inside your home again!
There are a couple of options on where you can store all of your stuff. First, consider using a storage service such as Timpanogos Storage if you want to keep it off-site. This is the best option if you won’t be accessing your stuff for some time. This is great for antiques and other larger pieces too since you’ll generally get more space. The downside is that it costs money, but it can be a good temporary solution while you find a place to put it. It can also be a long-term solution if you’re not too bothered about the costs of renting out a storage unit.
Sell it online or locally
There are loads of great options for selling things online or locally. If you want your stuff to go to a good home, you could always consider selling it as you find it. This ensures that you don’t end up waiting for ages while your stuff sells, and it helps you clear up space as you slowly declutter your home.
So where should you sell? There are plenty of places to sell stuff online and most of them don’t even require you to have a computer. Nowadays, you can simply download an app and sell your stuff immediately. However, we do recommend that you go with well-established platforms when possible. For example, eBay has millions of users and is generally the go-to option, but you can also use local websites such as Craigslist if you’re not afraid of hagglers.
Selling your stuff is generally one of the best ways to get rid of your clutter. Not only do you free up space, but you’re also getting some money from it as well. In some cases, you might want to try and value some of your items before you list them online to ensure you’re getting the best price for them. However, if you don’t want to go through this trouble then you could just set it to a bidding item. That way, people will pay what they think it’s worth. This is usually great for items that don’t have a stable price or for one-of-a-kind items.
Donate it when possible
If you don’t want to store your clutter but don’t want to go through the trouble of selling it, then you could consider donating it away as long as it’s actually usable. This is usually the preferred option for bulk clothes or furniture. Some people you know might have some need for random garments that you’re not wearing anymore, and others could do with an extra chair or coffee table.
This is a great option if you like giving your stuff away and it can be a great help to someone else. Alternatively, you could list your stuff online for free so that people take it off your hands with the exception that they either pay for shipping or they come and collect it. This is the best option for large and heavy items that are difficult to carry around or if you have no real means to ship big things.
We hope that this post has given you a few helpful ideas on what to do with clutter. Cleaning out your clutter is great and all, but you need to think about what you want to actually do with it afterwards. You can’t just leave it around and shuffling it back into your home is never going to work out.
