We all love doing DIY projects at home, tackling remodel jobs, renovations, spring-cleaning, rearranging, and fixer-uppers. A quick glance at anyone’s Pinterest Board or Instagram feed (or the roster of home improvement shows on Netflix) will show you that doing home projects is a passion project for millions and millions of people. It’s fun and rewarding to work with your own hands to improve and transform a place, especially if you’re a homeowner!

However, there are some instances in which doing things yourself simply won’t cut it. Situations in which the damage is so extensive or severe that a layman simply can’t handle it and professional experience is needed. There’s no shame in calling in the pros when damages are so severe that you need a helping hand. In many cases, in fact, your insurance company may insist on it. Below are some of those scenarios in which calling an experienced professional is your best bet:
Smoke Damage
For homes that have been subject to fire, cleaning up can be a lengthy, stressful and messy process. You might assume that actual fire damage is the main problem, but you might be surprised. Often, smoke damage in a home is harder to repair than actual fire damage. Experienced professionals may be able to salvage your home as well as your belongings with safe, scientific methods to eliminate the damage.
Smoke damage is as much about the lingering smell and danger of chemicals/smoke inhalation as it is about actual physical damage. Luckily, companies that cleanup smoke damage can tackle both problems, salvaging your home and making it liveable again.
Water Damage
If your home has flooded, or you’ve seen water damage as a result of a major storm, hurricane or other natural event, you know how stressful and awful it can be. Cleaning up water damage is upsetting and tricky. With water damage comes possible electrical and/or structural damage, damage to belongings, and carries with it the risk of mold and/or mildew, which can cause health problems. When you have major water damage, you must get it cleaned up, fast.
It’s often a job that can’t be fixed by just one person. You need a professional team of experienced restorers who can eliminate the water damage and salvage your home and treasured belongings.
Mold and More
If you’ve spotted mold in your home, it’s safe to assume that there’s more mold lurking in the places you can’t see. Many homeowners try to remove mold themselves, but there’s no guarantee you can get it all. In the case of black mold, which can be life threatening, you need to make sure it’s all eliminated, or you pose serious risks to your health. That’s why hiring a team of professionals to remove your mold is well worth the money.
Other Types of Damage
Whether it’s fire damage, damage from a natural disaster or weather event, damage from pests/insects, structural damage, or other types of home damage, hiring a team of professionals can save you money, time and keep you from becoming injured or doing further damage to your home. It is an investment that will pay off in the end.
