Hampton’s Desk Before and After I don’t have a new Favorite Find Monday to share today. Instead, I’ll share a fun before and after of a favorite find from over the summer. It’s the fantastic old desk that my husband found on the side of the road in the Hamptons. The desk is extremely old, solid wood and had been tossed to the curb. We threw it into the back of the minivan and home to Maryland it went.
I sanded back the top to get out the deep scratches and applied Minwax wood stain in a dark walnut color to give it a darker hue and tone down the red. I used an enamel paint on the base (more on the paint in a later post) and distressed it in places so the original wood would peek through.
All done! It has made its way from New York to Maryland and now to Virginia! A couple purchased it for their weekend home in the country. It has found the perfect home
I redid the farmhouse table top (yet again) and will share tomorrow
Love the finish on this – look forward to next post on it…..
Thank you Cheryl. I shall share as soon as I can
It amazes me some times on what people throw away! Nicely done Suzanne
Beautifully done and a beautiful piece.
Thanks Debra!
Suzanne, NO ONE can distress as artfully as you! I’ve tried it, and its a lot more than just some random sanding.
XOXOXOX
Thank you SO much, Mary!
