We made it to my sister’s beach cottage in Amagansett yesterday! The bedroom is so beachy and so lovely that I wanted to share it with you. The furniture is from a shop called Rumrunners in Wainscott, NY (I did not touch it – it came like it) and the bedding is HomeGoods. The wall color is Benjamin Moore Woodlawn Blue. The room ties in so nicely with the beach colors.
The furniture above was purchased new and already with that wonderful, washed look. To create this look, you can give unfinished wood a whitewash using either stain or paint. Here are videos that I made on the process using Annie Sloan chalk paint. Enjoy and subscribe HERE for more!

LOVE how this dresser turned out!
Susan
Beautiful! Thanks for showing us how to do it! Enjoy your time at the beach!!! Looks wonderful and relaxing. Have fun!
Suzanne
Thanks, Susan! Yes, we are!
Jean
Thanks for the great lesson! Does your furniture need to be sanded down or can you start white washing over the stain on the wood?
Suzanne
Hi Jean, you don’t have to sand back the furniture if it doesn’t have a finish already applied. The wood shouldn’t have a shellac or varnish over it. It should go over bare wood.

Great piece, did you also use the wax afterwards.
Suzanne
Hi Wendy, I honestly don’t remember but I don’t believe I waxed it. The wash really sank into the wood and it didn’t need waxing. I could have applied the wax and it would have been fine. Either way works. Thanks!

Stunning room. Love the driftwood color of the furniture. Can’t get more coastal than that! Beautiful work, Suzanne.
