Yesterday, I shared my latest favorite find.
It is a great, solid oak chair that I picked up for under $5.00.
Here is the chair after a few coats of creamy white paint.Β I used a combo of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old White and General Finishes Milk Paint Antique White.Β I mixed the two (about half to half ratio) and am in love with the result.Β The paint goes on smoothly, is easy to distress and doesn’t need to be waxed.

sometimes the simplest makeovers are the best- i really love this sweet chair! what a great shape and the new coat highlights it!

Thanks, Cassie! I love the easy peesy makeovers π

i would have walked right by this chair after seeing this i won’t ever again xx
Suzanne
My saying should be “I stop for chairs”. I think I need help π

Super cute!
Patra
Another gorgeous transformation!! Silly question probably, but why doesn’t it need to be waxed?
Suzanne
Hi Patra, because the GF milk paint is acrylic based. It wasn’t that “chalky” of a finish that needed sealing. If it were a dresser top or table, I would definitely seal it.

This is fabulous! I’ll pay more attention to chairs now!
Suzanne
I have a strange collection of chairs in my house and need to list a few! My chair obsession is taking over my home lol! They remain the easiest and cheapest makeovers out there π
Laurie
love it. I am curious as well about the no wax Is it because you mixed with General Finishes?
Suzanne
Yes, the acrylic paint allowed for a no-wax finish. However, if this was a dresser I would seal the top. Cheers!

I totally have a thing for chairs too. This one is a beauty. Great job Suzanne.

Painting it white really brought out the details – love it Suzanne!

Any prepping involved? and what did you do to distress it, if you don’t mind my asking?
Suzanne
No prep was required. I just cleaned it first with a paper towel and water as it had some – well – gross stuff stuck to the seat. I distressed it with #220 grit sandpaper wrapped around a sanding sponge. Cheers!

So pretty! Great choice of color. I just picked up three very similar chairs for $3 a piece! It’s nice to have extra chairs for when you score that awesome desk that is too small for modern chairs!
Suzanne
Great tip on the desk/chair combo! Such a great feeling when you score!

This turned out beautifully. Visiting you from Fethered Nest Fridays.
Suzanne
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
Patricia
It is such a sweet chair now. Everything you touch turns out beautifully; you must have a magic paint brush! Either that or you are incredibly talented π
Suzanne
You are too kind! Thank you so much!
