Wow, can you believe it is Labor Day already? I feel our summer just flew by. I am looking forward to the fall weather and being back on a schedule with the kid’s school and activities. Most of all, I am looking forward to having more time to dedicate to my Little Business That Could, The Painted Drawer! I have ideas and am excited to get it all going.
Today, however, I have a fantastic favorite find Monday to share. It is solid wood and great quality. I plan on tossing those drawer pulls and giving it a totally different look – this will be a fun transformation.
Would you like to hear a story of something that really would only happen to me? We had a big sleepover party this weekend with many little girls awake all night, busy running up and down the stairs and slamming bedroom doors at 3:30 am. In the morning, I was counting down the seconds for their parents to arrive and rescue me. As the parents started to show up, we walked into the family room which was strewn with random pillow pets, blankets and sleeping bags. I glanced down and noticed a very realistic looking stuffed animal nestled next to a sleeping bag. It was so realistic, it made me look twice. For a brief second, I thought it was an old, mohair toy. As I said out loud, “Whose stuffed animal is this?” it slowly dawned on me that actually, no, it was not mohair or stuffed. It was the bottom half (say, waist down) of a real rabbit. Both hind legs intact and furry with a lovely, furry half a torso. EEEEEWWW.
I am positive it had been deposited there only a few minutes before and had not spent the night next to one, poor unsuspecting child. The kids had only just left the back door open.
I. Hate. Baxter (our mean, black cat).
Try explaining that to the lovely child’s parent 😉

Poor rabbit! I can’t wait to see what you do to the great dresser! I hope you can relax tonight and get some great sleep!
Megan
You do amazing work – I am interested to see what you do with the dresser, because I think I have other pieces from this same set. Mine is old cherry Broyhill, with the same trim and pulls. I found your blog when I was looking into General Finishes paint. I have used the Lamp Black, thanks to your work! As far as the rabbit goes, ewwwwww!!!

Hi Megan – yes, if it is old Broyhill it is likely similar. Thanks so much for your comment! Glad you tried Lamp Black – it is a great color.
