Here is a look at the Curvy French Console before…
And here is the “after”…I painted the body in chalk paint and layered different mixes of blues, greens and greys. It was then distressed and waxed. I love the look of layered paint. It gives such interest. The top was refinished from this…to this…
Do you all just love my vintage globe? I picked it up this week at an estate sale. The french chair in the background is also one of this week’s finds – amazing!I happen to love that the table is as lovely from the back…as it is from the front. And my sweet little poof (doesn’t it just scream RACHEL ASHWELL!) was yet another little gem I picked up. I really can’t wait for Monday’s Favorite Find as I have just the most amazing share. What a week!

Suzanne, I would like to know how you refinished the top of the desk. I have a similar desk that has a lot of scratches like that. Is it sanding and then staining? thanks
Suzanne
Hi Sylvia, Yes, it is a lot of sanding! Start out with a 60 grit sandpaper and sand with the grain. Some pieces are easier than others when it comes to sanding. I assume it depends on the wood and existing stain. This one was not the easiest and took a lot of effort to get down to the grain and sand out those deep scratches. I typically go from 60 grit to 150 to 220 at the end. Then stain and seal. I have a video on my tutorials page or on YouTube that may help. I just purchased a sander and will post about it soon! Hoping for an easier way 🙂 Suzanne
