Happy Monday, everyone! I am in the midst of chaos in my home preparing for the Luckett’s Holiday Market this weekend. My living room, once again, is a (controlled?) mess and I am really hoping for some sales to unload all of it!
Oh, and my favorite find of the week? It began when I saw an ad on Craigslist and emailed. The ad said “Moving Sale. 1920’s bedroom set for sale” and included one very dark picture of one piece of furniture kind of hidden in a corner. She emailed back and said that someone else was coming by and if they didn’t want it, she would let me know. I chalked it up to the early bird gets the worm, blah blah, blah. We had a super busy weekend ahead so I was trying to convince myself that it was for the best. It was just that it had said a 1920’s bedroom set. Even without pictures, my interest was piqued.
Well, amazingly, she emailed to say the woman never showed. So, after my son’s baseball game, I dragged my husband and kids a half hour to her house. We had to take two cars, in case I wanted it because then the kids would have to pile into my husband’s car to get home. At this point, I was really hoping it would be worth the effort as it was so far and I hated wasting my kid’s beautiful Saturday afternoon, not to mention the gas. All of this on just one bad picture and a description that only said “Moving sale. 1020’s bedroom set for sale”.
We (finally) arrived and I met the nicest woman who showed me upstairs to her bedroom. She told me the set had been her grandmothers and wanted to know if I was into the “antique look”. I almost fell over in excitement but had to keep it down. I was trying to act cool when I came back downstairs and told my husband, “Oh, yes, we will take it.” He gave me a funny look as my face must have looked like the cat who had just swallowed the canary. I sent him upstairs to bring it all down with her husband and load it into the van before she could possibly change her mind!
Here are pics but I don’t think they even show how lovely it is. Two dressers, a bedside table and mirror…
And the price? Let’s just say, Christmas came early to little ‘ole me!
