When it comes to your health, your kitchen will say a lot about your attitudes towards it. If you’ve got pantries full of sweet treats, are you actually looking after your health? The fact is that when we are all trying our best to keep healthy at home, it can be overwhelming. But this is where having the right things in your kitchen can give you a solid baseline of health. Here are a few things that you should have.
A Water Filter
Water filter providers like Pentair Rocean talk about the benefits of having cleaner water. The fact is that we all need to be hydrated, and sometimes we don’t drink as much water as we should because we don’t like the taste. But there are plenty of things that you can do to flavor the water, such as adding lemon, but a water filter can make a big difference because it’s clean water and can help improve the taste, which would be a lifesaver for those with kids who just don’t want to drink much water.
Spices
You might do your best at giving your children vegetables, only to turn up their nose at them. What is the solution? It’s all about the flavor. You’ve got to ensure that you get into the habit of cooking healthy meals. And when we have picky children, one of the best things that we can do is to flavor them with the right amount of spices. Spices such as pepper, cinnamon, smoked paprika, cumin, and Chinese 5-spice are lifesavers in many households because they can form the basis of amazing flavorful dishes that (coincidentally) have vegetables in them!
Oats
With so much talk about the benefits of probiotics and prebiotics, so many people are going out to supermarkets and purchasing really expensive items like kombucha and kefir. The fact is that if you want to increase your good gut bacteria, you need to simply increase your fiber intake. Fiber is a type of prebiotic, and oats are one of the best and cheapest forms. Oats are also an incredibly versatile ingredient. If you are keen on overnight oats you can make this, but also if you need to make a meal go further, oats take on the flavor of the dish they inhabit. So if you are struggling with your finances, you can always add blended oats to meals like bolognese to make it go further. Of course, it is also incredibly helpful that oats are very good for you and have an abundance of nutrients, such as complex carbohydrates and protein.
Crockpot
Finally, for those families who are constantly losing the battle against time, a crockpot is an excellent tool to ensure that you are always eating balanced and healthy meals. Try one of the many crockpot recipes online and put it all together before you go on the school run or to work. When you come home, the house will smell amazing. Of course, you can also get into the habit of batch cooking these meals, which will make sure your food goes further!
