Seven Things You Need To Keep Your Child’s Bedroom Organized

One of the biggest complaints that parents make about their child’s bedroom is the mess that often ends up all over the floor. Some children have bedrooms that resemble toy factories and anyone who has children knows that they love to tip out the boxes of toys all over the floor. Children are not naturally organized, but lucky for them, us parents are! 

Instead of keeping the door shut so that you don’t have to see the mess, it’s time to learn the six things that you need to make your child’s bedroom more organized. Messy bedrooms don’t just look awful, they can be a safety issue, too. It’s time to let go of “out of sight, out of mind” and embrace a tidier future. So, let’s look at seven things that you need right now to keep your child’s bedroom as organized as possible.

1. A Linen Trunk. Keeping the sheets in the bedroom is a good idea, but you need a large trunk to keep it all in. It works as an additional space to play with toys, too, so it’s going to benefit your children massively to have their linen in their own bedroom. Get a traditional trunk rather than a metal or plastic one to house all their spare blankets and pillows.
2. A Toy Box. A kids wooden toy box gives a bedroom a retro feel, and it’s the perfect home for all of their stuffed animals, dolls, trains and blocks. The contents change as they get older, but the use for the box never will. A personalized and crafted toy box can set off the room.
3. A Shelving Unit. Bookcases are a must in the bedroom of your child. The need to be filled with fairy tales and stories of heroes and monsters is huge at a young age and the more books that you give your children, the more adventures they’ll go on!
4. Wooden Cabinet (With Doors). You need at least one space-saving wooden cabinet with doors to hide away the baskets of Lego and the millions of Matchbox cars. Video games and controllers for older kids can be hidden here, too.
5. Dresser. Every single bedroom needs a dresser and your child is no different. Label the exterior with the words and pictures to show them what goes where, and encourage them to place their own folded, clean clothing into the right drawers.
6. Wardrobe Organizer. Getting things in the closet tidily is not always easy for kids. However, with the right closet organizers they’re going to be able to find it easier to arrange their shoes and their hanging clothes, too. This will evolve as they grow, but the more you organize the space when they’re young, the happier they’ll be.
7. Storage Under The Bed. Having storage under the bed is a must in a child’s bedroom as they can be the place you keep spares. Think anoraks and wellies, spare blankets, older toys that hold sentiment. Choose a bed with drawers or get some of the smaller plastic tubs on wheels that can be put straight under.
