This little table is a vintage phone table with a little chair. My neighbor, Michelle remembers it fondly as it used to be in her grandmother’s house, with the phone sitting on top and the phone book inside. It is now Michelle’s table and she wants to use it in her new beach house. We originally were going to do a creamy white but after I sanded and stained the top, I realized that a soft gray with a white wash tied in nicely with the new top.
Here is the original. At one point, Michelle attempted to paint it in white but as you can see, she didn’t get very far! Oops, sorry I forgot to take before pics of the chair!
I used Dixie Belle chalk mineral paint in the color Driftwood (perfect for her beach house!) and applied two coats. I distressed it and sanded it smooth. I then added a light wash of Annie Sloan Old White and sealed it in AS clear wax. The top was sanded back to its original grain and stained in Varathane’s color, Sunbleached. Hence, a Sunbleached Driftwood table and chair for a beach house!
The perfect fit for her new house by the beach 🙂
