I’m back from gorgeous Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and we had such a wonderful time! I took a ton (yes, a ton) of pics to share with you. Mexico is truly heaven with gorgeous, vibrant colors, wonderful people and fabulous – I mean fabulous – food. We were so impressed by the hospitality and kindness shown to us there. If I didn’t have three kids waiting for me at home, I honestly would not have left!
I’ve broken the pics down into galleries and if you wish to see a larger version of the pic, just click on it. The first is of our hotel, the Grand Miramar. It is situated up a mountain and has the most amazing views. There was an infinity pool on the rooftop, as well as three pools lower down. The staff were amazing and the food was great. We had breakfast everyday with fresh fruit and this wonderful celery and cactus drink that I need to somehow find here!
The second gallery is our tour of a national park, Islas Marietas. The islands are protected so the boats can only go so close and you are not allowed on the actually islands themselves. They are home to Blue Footed Booby, birds which are only found here and the Galapagos Islands. We went bird watching, snorkeling, kayaking and I attempted to paddleboard (I was trying to look like one of the Hollywood stars out on the sea in their teeny bathing suits on their paddleboards but I didn’t quite pull off the look!) It was a ton of fun and the crew were so great. They provided breakfast, lunch and entertainment.
Next is the Vallarta Botanical Gardens. These are located in the mountains where it is very tropical. We hiked down to a fresh water stream and went for a swim. The Gardens are full of color and plants and species that I can’t even begin to describe. We ate lunch there atop a mountain where we saw wild birds fly by – fabulous!
Here is downtown Puerto Vallarta and the older section of the city with cobblestone streets. There was so much to see and such amazing food to try that we needed another few weeks to see it all!
And, of course, here is the beach! We walked along and enjoyed ourselves in the many restaurants along the beachfront. My husband and I kicked back with a drink or two 😉 and had amazing fresh seafood, tacos, etc. They even had a full band with a tuba player that strolled along!
Heaven!
