I know you all enjoy a fun before and after and thought to share a couple of fun makeovers that I did in General Finishes Somerset Gold. I love this color! It is perfect for a farmhouse or french country look, depending on the piece. It pairs really well with a golden hued wooden top and both blue and white highlights always look fabulous with it. If you are looking for a yellow that isn’t too buttery and has depth, this is it!

I just love this colour! (But then again I also have a yellow car – a bit telling!). I’d love to match it to one of our paint colours here in Australia….. wonder how I’d do that??? The pieces look great Suzanne.

Thanks, Elisabeth! It is a hard one to match, though. It is a deep, almost mustard yellow.

Love the color especially paired with the blue in the second piece! All are gorgeous but the second one is my favorite!

All 3 are beautiful but especially like the bottom one with all the floral detail. Just beautiful!!

could you help us with how to paint or not the inside of a cabinet or drawers…..love your work……thanks, gloria g. Walls

Hi Gloria, well, it depends on the condition of the piece. If the interior or drawers are in bad shape (or smell) then I always prime and paint them. If they are in good shape, I either line them with paper or leave as-is. It also depends on what the customer wants done. In the case of the Somerset Gold Empire cabinet, it really, really needed to be painted. It was super old and in bad shape. The paint covered it all well and made the interior like new. Plus, it added a pop of fun blue! Cheers!

Thanks Suzanne for a great response…..I appreciate this. I love finding great old cabinets/trunks and such, but have never used chalk paint. I plan to give that a try. Yours are always so beautiful. I have been painting chests since before it was the thing. I love painted furniture…….I love readying your blog. Again, thanks, gloria g.in Port Saint Lucie, FL

You are very welcome!

I would have never looked at a paint with gold in the title because I am not a fan of gold. I learned today that it pays to look before you decide if you like something or not. Thanks for showing the Somerset Gold. I love it!
