What a massive favorite find Monday I have to share today. I mean massive in the physical sense (not just that it was a massive find – which it was!). I ran across this great Bassett china cabinet last week and had to have it.
I really thought (hoped) that it would fit in my minivan. I was wrong! I ended up having a couple of guys hoist it onto the top of my car and tie it up. I had to drive a half hour with it on top of my car to get home. Very nerve wracking but I made it! Yes, I like to live dangerously 😉
It has great french country lines and I really love the grilles on the glass inserts. However, it’s in really bad shape. One of the bottom doors is broken and the whole piece is really banged up and scratched. The inside glass shelves are missing and one of the front glass panels is broken.Even with all of the damage, I think you can see why I bought it. I love the great length of it and the top cornice is going to look amazing when painted.
Off to work!

You are one brave lady! Glad you all made it home safe and sound, and yes, we can see why you bought it! Looking forward to reading/seeing it’s transformation!

I wish I had half of your energy. I’m with everyone else, can’t wait to see what you do.

Ooooh Suzanne that has some great details! I can totally see why you’d want to tie it to the roof of your van and give it a new life. Can’t wait to see what colors you paint it.

What an awesome find. The glass details and the lines are really nice. Oh, I have so many questions…What color will your use? Are you going to change the hardware? Will you keep the doors on? Ok, I think I am getting a little pushy at this point. Can’t wait to see what you come up with on this one.
