Remember I wrote a post not too long ago – Kitchen Shelving? Well, I finally am getting around to purchasing what I feel will do the trick. I was going to get some wood cut to measure at Home Depot and stain or paint them. However, after going to Ikea today to look for brackets, I feel that I am onto a better alternative.
First of all, here is my kitchen. Excuse the dreary light (raining today) and the Rainbow Loom on the table (anyone with a child under the age 13 gets it!) as well as the Valentine’s debris. The kitchen table was a thrift store find that I painted last year. I love the farmhouse look of it. Here is a view to the left of the room…
Don’t look up!!! Yes, that is where the bathtub upstairs had a leak and flooded the kitchen. It literally poured down onto the stove. BTW, that was two years ago (no joke). What can I say? Time flies! But seriously, we plan on finishing the drywall work and painting soon. In between basketball, baseball and softball games on the weekends. 😉
Below, you can see the alcove to the right where I plan on installing the shelving.
Which leads me to today’s trip to Ikea! I saw these on the display wall and really liked the brackets. Not so much the shelves as they had a shiny coating on them.
When I went to find the brackets, I found more shelves. At only $6.99 per shelf, these were an excellent deal! I can either paint or stain them myself and give them a distressed look. They are nice and straight and also lightweight, making them easier to install.
Into my cart they went and onto my wall they go this weekend. I’m painting the wall first prior to installing the shelves so I may be a bit premature saying this weekend.
Let’s hope it doesn’t take two years!
