I finally was able to work on my favorite find from way back in October. This wonderful, large farmhouse chair that I envisioned sitting in a farmhouse somewhere in France. However, I found out that it is actually from Mexico! However, it really needed lightening up to give it charm. I didn’t want to give it a heavy coat of paint and decided a wash was the way to go. Here it is after a wash of Annie Sloan chalk paint in Old Ochre.
A wash lightened up the original finish without totally covering the old, weathered wood. It also did a great job of highlighting the detail. I happen to think it is the best option on original rush seats. Now the very vintage chair is ready for a new home, whether it be a rustic farmhouse, shabby or beach chic. Oh, what a wash will do!

Suzanne, that chair is gorgeous with a wash! I had to go back and recheck the paint color because the Ochre yellow is so subtle in a wash. What a beautiful piece of furniture!
