When you’re renting a property, there’s always the concern that it won’t feel like yours and that the decor won’t reflect your personality. You’re very limited in what you can do to the look and feel of the place. If the property has recently been renovated and redecorated, then you may not want to do anything to it. But some places need a little TLC or updating, in which case you will need to find ways to make big changes but without any permanent effects left behind.
If this is the case then you need to take a look at these fantastic, renter-friendly products.
Peel & Stick Tiles
The great thing about newer apartments for rent is that they have great kitchens. They’re modern, look great, and have all the bells and whistles when it comes to gadgets. Older kitchens can look a little drab. As a renter, you want to make them look great without spending too much money or doing any damage to the existing decor. That’s where peel and stick tiles come in. They are thin sheets of plastic tiles that you simply cut to shape and place over an existing wall or tile. They are available in lots of different patterns and colors and can totally transform your kitchen. What’s more, when you leave, you can simply peel them off and clean away any residue to leave everything looking exactly as you found it.
Vinyl Floor Tiles
Let’s face it, you’re going to have a lot of peel-and-stick items on any renter-friendly list. As with your wall tiles, you can use vinyl floor tiles to totally transform a room. They’ll stick onto laminate flooring, existing vinyl tiles, ceramic tiles, and lino. They’re very easy to fit too and can be cleaned with a mop.
Cordless Lighting
If you’re looking to add a bit of mood lighting to a space, but there aren’t any outlets for lamps, you can use cordless lighting to do the job. Available as separate units, or in tracks. You can stick these where you need them and control them via a handy remote. Use them as under cupboard lighting in kitchens or inside closets and cupboards to help you see items.
Area Rugs
A lot of landlords tend to opt for easy-to-maintain laminate and vinyl or a heavy use carpet. None of which scream coziness and style. That’s where area rugs come in. You can find a rug, or rugs, that are practically the size of your existing room, and can change it to your own personal style without you needing to fit a carpet. Even better, you can roll them up and take them when you leave.
Command Hooks
These really are the Swiss Army Knives of walls. You can put up photo walls or artwork to give those personal touches to your home without having to use any picture hooks or nails. There is also a range of decorative knobs and hooks too which you can use to hang items without the unsightly plastic hooks showing.
