Suitcases: Use your suitcases, not to carry your clothes, but the heaviest items, such as your books. The handles and wheels of the suitcase will make it easier to carry these items, which under other circumstances, you could not lift their weight and carry.
Dishes: To safely transport your glass and fragile dishes, you can, as you place them in a cardboard box, alternate between each plate of a plastic plate that will protect them from breaking. Plastic plates will act as protective layers for glass plates and other delicate objects, even lamps and things such as glass topped tables. Use them as a buffer and also they are relatively inexpensive.
Boxes: You will need to put your belongings in cardboard boxes, a classic and practical solution. But what can make the whole process easier is to note the contents of the box on the side and not on the top, so that you can more easily locate the inside when you unpack and look for something specific first. A very practical solution is to use storage boxes in different colors and thus divide your things into categories and colours and they’re a simple way to keep organised.
Liquid bottles: Wrap each bottle and liquid packaging, such as detergents, shampoo, and spirits, in a plastic bag. Under no circumstances would you want the package to be opened and the inside to be spread everywhere.
Cables: If you are transporting multiple concentrated cables at the same time, which may be tangled together, use rolls of toilet paper or kitchen paper to pass through these cables to avoid unwanted entanglement.
Essentials: As the chances of emptying the packed boxes on the first day you arrive at your new home are reduced, make a large bag in advance with what you will need immediately on the first night. This way, you will not have to open all the boxes to find what you need, but you will be looking directly at this bag when you get inside the new house.
Small items: If you have a lot of small items, such as screws, that are easy to get lost during transport, use plastic food storage bags or food bowls to carry them all together safely, in one place.
Adhesive tape: If the adhesive tape you use to seal your boxes does not stick well and you panic to run to buy a new one, try putting it in the microwave for a few minutes. It will regain a sticky texture and will be ready for use.
