Can you imagine investing significant sums of cash into a property, and then not even liking it? Alas, that’s something that plenty of people experience every day. For one reason or another, they just don’t like their property. And really, liking your property should be the absolute minimum. The aim is to love where you live, not just tolerate it. While you might never be able to afford that mansion with the swimming pool, that doesn’t mean that you need to give up on the love you have for your property. Below, we take a look at a few ways you nudge the affection for your home in the right direction.
Simplify Approach
It’s easy to get lost in the idea of what a property should have, but what about what you really want? This, after all, is your home — you’re the one who put up all the money and got the keys. Why not set it up to meet your needs? Like anything, things can become complicated when the home becomes too cluttered with ideas. To get back on track, simplify things — think about what you’d want a home to have, and ignore the rest.
Freshen Things Up
You may have once loved your home, but now it has begun to fade. And if it’s been some time since you last updated your home, then is it any wonder? Things need to be freshened up every now and again in order to keep the love alive. Look at working with an online interior decorator, and get a style that’s right for your personality and home. You’ll love walking through the front door once you have a fresh, modern, and well put-together house.
Moments of Joy
Sometimes, we spend an awful lot of time making sure that are home looks, you know, presentable, that we ignore all those little joyful touches that make our hearts sing. Take a look around your property: are there any signs of the things that you love? Fill your home with happy moments. It can be anything, so long as it brings a smile to your face. For example, it might be photos of your friends and family hanging on the wall, or a work of art. Perhaps it’s souvenirs from your travels, or simply houseplants. You’ll find that your house is a more enjoyable place to be.
Treat with Care
You’ll find it difficult to love your home if you have to continually squint just so you don’t see the less than stellar parts, such as dirt or damaged parts. It’ll take a little bit of effort, but it is important that you’re staying on top of your home’s maintenance — a home treated with love will be loving!
Rethink Flaws
Finally, look at rethinking your home’s imperfections if they’re robbing you of the joy your house should inspire. Are they really so bad? Do they not make your home a little unique? See them in a new light, and you might just find they’re kind of charming.
