Balance. My 2016 word to live by.
A condition in which different elements are equal or in the correct proportions. My life is full of different elements that require balance.
Balance equals happiness. They work together, hand in hand. With that word in mind, I am very excited to begin 2016 and have a vision for it to share.
In order to bring back my blog’s original creative spirit, I plan on blogging three times per week versus every day. This will allow more time for my actual job, which is creative painting. I honestly don’t have enough time in the day to write a good blog post and also get paint splattered over me in my garage. They both have been suffering and I realize this. I want to share interesting and insightful posts that you will appreciate reading.
I hope to post one video tutorial per week on my YouTube channel. It is a great outlet and I want to explore it more. My videos at this point are rather amateurish. I plan on exploring better techniques on how to create and edit the videos. From the feedback, viewers actually get something out of them. Plus, it’s fun!
I am doing more and more custom work. It is very rewarding to collaborate with an owner on their piece and I work hard to make their vision come to life. The client meetings, arranging pickup and delivery and the work involved is quite time consuming. I plan on focusing more this year on custom work which will require my streamlining this process. I really enjoy sharing these projects with you in the fun “before and after” posts!
As far as my personal life, my son is a soon-to-be high school senior. It is a critical year ahead that will require more of my time. Ella started high school and Sophie began middle school which all require more homework and activities. I also plan on devoting more time to my husband. He deserves it.

Good decision! I always like to read your posts, but sometimes just don’t have the time. Three times a week sounds like it will work perfectly all the way around! Happy New Year!

I agree, concentrate on the painting and we will look forward to fewer postings but appreciate them all the more.

I can understand your feeling. There aren’t enough hours in a day to accomplish projects, blog posts, custom work and spending quality time with friends and family. I look forward to the projects you paint in 2016.

Thomas Merton said “Happiness is not a matter of intensity but of balance, order, rhythm and harmony.” I hope you find your balance in 2016! My word for the year is abundance.

It’s an ongoing process, I think! Sometimes I feel like I’ve managed to find that so elusive balance, and other times, not so much. Your comment about about devoting more time to your husband made me smile: they do deserve it! I’ve appreciated you and your blog this past year, Suzanne; thanks for all you do!

Thank you so much, Rachel! I really appreciate it!
