The Mid-Century Modern dresser is finished and ready to be taken upstairs to my son’s room! I took a few pics to share with you. The body was painted in General Finishes Coastal Blue milk paint and the drawers and bottom feet were stained in General Finishes Java Gel Stain (see tutorial video here).
I need to go clear out my son’s room to make way for his new dresser! I hope to have a large bag full of Goodwill donations when I’m done
Gasp. This is so totally upscaled mid-century awesome! Well done you.
This is amazing! I don’t know how you do it but you know just the right color and finish to pick for each piece no matter what the style. It’s totally fantastic.
i do not have the brain power to do what you do (was that too many do-do’s?)but i do know this is awesome lucky son xx
Beautiful
Wow! That really looks Terrific! Great job!!
Thanks so much!
Lucky son!!!! Handsomely done!!
Another beautiful transformation!!!!!
Just gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the gel stain video – I would love to give it a try one of these days!
Love how this turned out!
Thank you, Patrice!
Wow! Nice job…that really looks sharp. You nailed it with your paint and stain choices.
oooooh i like this one a lot!
Yes, it is definitely more “Cassie-ish” than my typical lol! I thought you may like it! If I don’t talk to you prior, good luck on your run!
Oh wow! That is absolutely stunning, Suzanne. I agree, you have an innate sense of colour. Well done!
Thank you Elisabeth!
I’m pretty sure this is the bed room suite that includes this dresser when I was a young teen in the mid 60’s. I talked my parents into selling my piano so I could have new “modern” furniture in my room. My grandsons (7&8) now have it in their room. Their mom would be amazed to see it done a beautifully as you have done! I may have to see if I can get it back.
That is a great story! My son’s chest of drawers is from my grandmother who purchased it in the 60’s. I was thrilled to find a bargain piece that really matched it so well!
Looks amazing, really rich! Nice job
It turned out beautifully Suzanne, love the blue with the dark stain.
Love it!! Well done!
What a handsome piece. Beautiful yet masculine
Your son is very lucky to get that beautiful dresser
This looks amazing!
WOW! Exhibit 99 on why I think you should be selling GF products! And because you started out with such a well made piece, it will most definitely be around for a very long time! Another beautiful transformation, Suzanne!
Thank you so much, Cynthia! I would sell product but the shipping is a hindrance. Need to figure it out!
Truly stunning, you made this piece so much better. Just Gorgeous
Thank you so much!
Beautiful, hey those drawers sure look familiar …. Where’s the link?
Gosh I’m blonde…. I mean blind ….
So beautiful! LOVE this color combination.
I haven’t come across a nice mid-century piece in ages. This one is a beauty! Featured you at Be Inspired this morning. Thanks so much for sharing!
Love this Suzanne! The combo of the stain and blue are just perfect!
Thanks so much! It looks fab in my son’s room
Why would you paint a beautiful mod-centuey piece like this? Why not just refinish it and return it to its former beauty. Painting pieces like this destroys their value. So many beautiful pieces get ruined by chalk paint just because it’s the trendy thing to do.
Hello! I love your piece and I have a hutch that is mid centrury very similiar to this. How many coats of paint did you use for the coastal blue? What brush did you find best to use? I like how easy the gel finish applies with a t-shirt. Please let me know. Thanks!
Hi Lisette, I applied two coats of the Coastal Blue and I use a short handled Wooster brush from Home Depot. Best of luck!
