Last week, I found this great vintage record cabinet. I brought it home and realized that my kids have never touched a record and have no idea how a record player works! I explained how we used to take the needle and place it on the record and do it again and again to hear the record play. I felt akin to an ancient wiseman regaling stories from centuries ago!
This cabinet is a great find. The shape is sweet and the size is also useful. It can be used in a kitchen or even bathroom to hold towels. In a hallway it would be a good piece to throw your keys on and keep a basket inside for hats and gloves. Many uses come to mind! The slats are there to keep the albums in place and make it seriously retro! I also love the little scalloped bottom.I’m guessing it was once used as a TV stand as someone banged a hole out of its back for the cords of a dvd player, etc. to go through. Even this is out of style as now everyone hangs their television on the wall!A great find! Now, what color?!

How cute would it be with a wreath applique on each door and painted white?

It has been a long time since i saw one of these, it is a pretty piece. I think i would paint it gray with a light wash.

Good suggestion! I am having a hard time visualizing this one. May take awhile to figure it out.

Suzanne, I am such a fan and thoroughly enjoy your transformations. I have learned so much from your tutorials and want to say thank you. Please please don’t take this the wrong way. You are a beautiful woman, but your selfie profile picture does not do you justice. Would love to see a picture that reflects your awesome style and personality. 🙂

Hi Carol, I do not take it personally! My mother feels the same way about that pic! Just need to find time to take a picture. I am very critical about my photos now that I am in my forties. I feel they all are flawed (me not the photos!). Need to get over my bad attitude and take some better pics 🙂 Cheers!

they have made a serious comeback in my area, I recently sold one to a lady for her grandson and she is on the lookout for more. She is the furniture painter, re-doer, I am just a wanna be…

Glad to know! I had no idea – never stumbled upon one before. Hello Etsy lol!

I think it would make a great ‘wet bar’ (sans the wet) – bottled drinks, ice bucket, etc. would look super on it and painted to your liking! I’m not a fan of the wreath applique for this piece: sorry.
Suzanne
That is an awesome idea! I have one like it in my dining room. Great suggestion!

Great find–can’t wait to see what you do with it!

Great find in the cabinet. I know what you mean, I have the same situations with my kids….I threaten to make them watch Lawrence Welk Show. What about Annie Sloan Chateau Grey and (Dark Wax) or Country Grey and (Clear Wax), but you really pick the best colors. Can’t wait to see it.
Suzanne
Those are great (really great) suggestions! Hmmm, Country Grey…
