I am really late getting this post out today and apologize. We had (yet another) delayed school opening this morning and it always throws my whole day off by a few hours.
Enough moaning! Today’s favorite find is a fantastic, solid oak chair that I found last week for under $5.00. I am a sucker for chairs and I had to grab this one. I knew that with some paint, it could look oh, so farmhouse chic. New chairs, especially solid wood, are really quite pricey. Why not grab a few $5 chairs, give them a coat of paint and create great pieces for your home?
It has a great planked seat and the lines are interesting and fun. I worked on it today and will reveal tomorrow. I think you will be really surprised with the transformation. I am using my friend Robin’s (RPK Interiors) tip on combining General Finishes Antique White with Annie Sloan Old White for this project. I’m doing about a half to half ratio. I will give you the results tomorrow of my experiment!
Yes, my house is a mess in the background. I apologize! Fingers crossed that there is no snow or subfreezing temps tonight and we have a “normal” day around here!

you have normal days if there isn’t snow or low temps wow you are lucky with 2 kids under 3 normal is not in our vocabulary xx

Love the chair already, can’t wait for you to work your magic!
I’m not minding the late starts to school here in Indy, we are usually up at 5am so sleeping in till 7am is very nice!!

I know, I am being very whiny 🙂 and I love the two hour delay when I am in my warm bed but it really gets me when I look at the clock and it’s already 3pm and feels like mid-day. I wake up at 6am for my high schooler – 5 am? You guys in Indy are tough!!
Mary
Where are you? Sounds like my area!
Suzanne
Hi Mary! I’m in Maryland (N. Bethesda). Are you close by?

Love to see that someone else drags their projects into the house when it’s too cold to work in the garage. Love it!
Suzanne
Oh, you should see my house! Dining room – full, Living Room – half full, Office – full, Garage – full. I really need spring to arrive!
Robin
So….don’t you love to mix the two? You get the silky smooth with the GF, but is so much easier to distress! Thanks for the mention, my sweet friend! 🙂
Suzanne
You are welcome, Robin! I absolutely love this tip! You are right – silky smooth but easy to distress. BTW, your new french chair is DIVINE!

Can I just say its so nice to know someone else is actually painting on her kitchen table as well!
