This week, I’m sharing a video tutorial I created on the process of transforming the “beast” Empire dresser! I posted the “before and after” last week, and just finished editing the video tutorial and uploaded it to my YouTube channel. Using Magnolia Home by Joanna Gaines chalk style paint in the color Olive Grove, the video starts from the very beginning days of fixing the damage, to the paint process and the final result.
I hope you find it helpful in your paint endeavors and that it is a good representation of the paint. I must say, I do enjoy the paint and plan on using it again soon.

Hello Suzanne, I have been contemplating painting an old bedroom set for a VERY LONG time (never have had the nerve to do it)! I live on one of the outer islands in Hawaii and getting chalk paint choices here is difficult. Lately I’ve been looking at Olive Grove by Joanna Gaines at Target. She has a nice palette of colors and there are other choices which I prefer but cannot get. So, I’m excited to see Olive Grove in its full glory: thank you for this excellent video! I do have one question and that is: I note that you did not use (or certainly not demonstrate) a sealer or wax on this project. Should I be concerned about using something other than just the paint on my bedroom set?
All best with the continuance of your fantastic work!
Kind regards,
Sharon

Hi Sharon, I actually did not use a sealer over the paint. I honestly didn’t feel like it needed it. The paint seems really durable (more so than other chalk paints). However, if you plan on using the painted furniture a lot (especially the tops of dressers/tables) I would definitely seal them. I’ll have to give their sealers a try on my next project. Thanks so much and best of luck with your bedroom set!
Kathy
that dresser looks gorgeous,

Thank you!
