OK, well maybe not, EPIC failure. It feels like it, however. I have been working on the French bed and just cannot – for the life of me – get it right. I have an idea in my head. The bed should fit in here…
Not too grand of an aspiration, right?!
Instead, I believe it is a bit of a mess. I have tried multiple layers of different colors and waxes and still just can’t get it right. It needs to be put away in the garage and I need to give it a break. Maybe clear my head. Maybe come up with a new vision for it. Or, maybe just stand back and realize that I have been overthinking it.
A frustrating Monday and this is why my post is so late getting out. I had wanted to share the makeover with you but it was not meant to be!
As for this week’s favorite find….just picked it up today. The upholstery is in dire shape but the chair itself is gorgeous.
Let’s hope for a better result for this one 🙂

Love the chair. The details on it are beautiful. I agree, you do need to step away from the bed and clear your head. You’ll figure it out eventually.

You would know a bit better than I…..perhaps just too strong a turquoise? I see that room and a slightly grayer blue comes to mind…do they make a turquoise with grey in it? Hmm. I also loved your idea of gold accent for the shell at the crest of the headboard. Every piece you do comes out fabulous—I know one inspired afternoon you will achieve what you’ve had on your mind! Looking forward to what ‘s next. 😉

I actually was thinking the exact same thing. Too bright and needs “graying down”.
Tina Marie
P.S. I would certainly NOT call that an epic failure……simply not your vision for it!

You may not like it because of the harsh turquoise color. I would try a thin grey wash over it, allowing only a little of the darker turq to peek through which will more mirror the turq I see peeking through on the finial thingamajig at the top. Most of the french pieces are more demure and soft in tone. Good luck….keep workin on it….you’ll get it and know when it is right 🙂
Suzanne
Yes, it totally needs toning down. After a day or too, I will tackle it again. I like your idea of a grey wash, hmmmm 🙂
Karen J
Maybe consider reversing the color placement. Use the darker turq on the outside edge band around the top and sides…and try the lighter blue-grey in the center panel area……

Oh Susan! You reminded me the day I called you with my desperate need of advise… I know exactly how you feel about this! I know your vision will become a beautiful reality in no time. Give it a couple of days, I know it will be beautiful a piece of art! 😉

Hang in there, you’re a talented artist and I know it will be amazing when you’re finished 🙂
