How To Make Your Small Bathroom Appear Bigger
A small bathroom can be challenging to decorate and design, especially if you want to make it appear bigger. Thankfully, you can employ some hacks to make the most of your limited space while creating a stylish and comfortable bathroom that appears spacious. So, does your small bathroom feel cramped and cluttered? Here are some clever tricks to create the illusion of space and make it appear bigger than it is.
- Thin out the decorations
Decorative accessories like small rugs, potted plants, tiny tables, and artwork can make your bathroom feel cozy but easily crowd your space. So, limit yourself to only the bathroom essentials and thin out the extraneous items. If you’re a collector, find other places in your home, like your living room, to display your collections. Before adding anything to your bathroom, ask yourself if it has any functional (not emotional) value; if it doesn’t, move it to another part of your home.
- Use frameless glass screens
Using glass panels for your shower areas always adds to the feel of space in any bathroom. A clear glass shower screen will help reflect light and open up your bathroom, creating a space without any barrier. And this will instantly make your bathroom appear bigger than it is. And since most glass screens can be shaped or customized into different sizes, you can choose the most suitable option, depending on where you want to fix your shower area.
- Go for an all-white design
An all-white design is a common trick many designers use to make small spaces appear larger. Even better, it will never go out of style. All-white designs work well because they reflect a lot of light, especially when incorporating a large mirror, a sizable window, and frameless glass screws into the design. All these elements will increase how much light your bathroom space reflects, creating an illusion of a larger space. So, let your walls, ceiling, floor tiles, bathtub, bathroom cabinets, shelves, etc., be pristine white.
- Keep everything the same color
If you don’t want an all-white bathroom design, consider keeping everything in the same color as much as possible. Using different colors and color patterns in your bathroom design can create a chaotic or cluttered feeling by dividing up your space, making it look and feel smaller than it already is. So, use a uniform color pattern throughout your design, including your walls and ceiling. That will make your design flow throughout without unpleasant divisions.
- Use floor-to-ceiling tiling
Install your tiles to the ceiling and, if possible, throughout your entire bathroom space. This way, you will eliminate horizontal dividing lines and create a feeling of a higher ceiling. You can also incorporate large floor tiles of plain color, ideally, ones that match your wall tiles. But if it all sounds like too much work, you can invite an interior and exterior home remodeling expert to make changes to your bathroom design in a way that will make it appear larger.
