I’m trying to fit a lot into this post today, everyone! First of all, the Happy Holidays Giveaway has less than seven hours left! If you haven’t entered, then now is the time! I will write a quick post tomorrow to announce the winner!
I also finished up the gorgeous and lovely, curvy legged french dresser (Favorite Find Monday and French Finds). I happen to love this piece and am so happy with a new chalk paint combo that now counts as one of my all time favorites. I used two coats of Annie Sloan Coco as a base and a wash of Country Grey. I then sanded it back softly to create a smooth finish and applied a clear wax to seal the piece. The original drawer pulls complement the finish and I love them on this piece.
And here is the after. The wash over the Coco created a muted, soft color that is simply gorgeous and oh, so French!

Very Gorgeous! You did a splendid job and the wash is great!
Suzanne
Thanks, Darrielle! I can’t believe I decided to do this project during the busiest week ever and it turned out so well. You know how they sometimes just come together?! Cheers!

I love painting right now because of vacation time and over all time around the house due to bad weather. I look forward to your transformation this year!

Thanks, Linda! Hopefully you’ll have chance to work on your piece soon – I know that feeling of wanting to get it done but trying to carve a good 3 to 4 hours out of your time to do it 🙂 Cheers!

Oh so pretty!!!

Beautiful work and fantastic piece! I often thought you would have to put light colored furniture against a dark wall so that it wouldn’t drown itself out. I can see I was wrong. The original hardware still compliments the piece. Well done!

patra
This my 2nd favorite piece you’ve done!!! It’s really a tie between this and your drop front desk in your kitchen (the one you did in Driftwood). How did you make the Country Gray wash? One part paint to one part water?
Suzanne
Hi Patra, Why, thank you! It is one of my favorite’s too! The color is just so soft. I made the wash by diluting the paint (not sure about the exact parts – just make it very thin, like water). I then dip my brush in water and apply. I actually have a tutorial on the blog (up top under Tutorials). It is really easy to do and creates a lovely look. Thanks so much!
