The recent outbreak of coronavirus has changed things exponentially for all of us. Even if we’re lucky enough not to have contracted the virus personally or to have lost someone we care about to it. Nonetheless, we can address the elephant in the room without being trampled by it. Even in these darkest of times, there are silver linings around this gray and dismal cloud. Even though the light at the end of the tunnel seems a million miles away we can light a candle instead of cursing the dark. Here are some things to take away from the current climate which will guide us through the fear, uncertainty and isolation.

It’s a chance to do the things you’ve been putting off for too long
There’s a good chance that you’re now working from home as well as living there. What better time, then, to ensure that your home is making you as happy, contented and relaxed as possible? Now’s the time to carry out a deep spring clean of your home and do all those odd jobs that you’ve been putting off for way too long. Just be mindful of which household jobs are best left to a professional. When in doubt, steer clear of electrical or plumbing repairs as these have the potential to go awry. And in the current climate it may be harder to get a professional to carry out emergency repairs.
Low, low interest rates
Whether you’ve been dreaming of moving home for a long while or simply want to pay off your mortgage faster, you should use the current all-time low interest rates to your advantage. At the moment, 30 year mortgages are in the low 3%s while 15 year mortgages are in the high 2%s. So if you refinance now you could save a fortune in interest payments and pay off your home loan sooner. Or if you yearn for a change of scenery, you could take advantage of the low rates to buy the new home of your dreams. Just be sure to use a reputable moving company like Good Guys Moving & Delivery when you’re ready to move. It can make all the difference in taking the stress and disruption out of moving.
You have time to reflect on what really matters
The pace of life has slowed down tremendously for many of us. While we may have less work (and less income) this is the perfect chance to take stock of what really matters. It’s a chance to show our spouses just how much we love them and how glad we are that they chose to spend their lives with us. To hold our children extra tight. To call our parents and grandparents and let them know how important they are to us. To re-engage with our hobbies, interests and creative endeavors.
In stepping of the treadmill for a moment we can remind ourselves what’s really important.
