Why Doesn’t My House Feel Like A Home?
Well, to put things simply, it’s possible because when you moved into your home, you placed too much emphasis on the things that appear grand.
When we move into a new home, we all have a habit of placing importance on things that cost money and that you think will make the biggest impact. In fact, what really happens is that the more you concentrate on the larger, more expensive things, the more likely it is that your home will feel more like a showhome than anything else.
If you really want your home to feel comfortable, warm, and like a place you want to live in, then you should shift your focus over to the things that are small, and that will add a ton of character to your home.
This post is going to highlight a few of the things that you can add to your home that will ultimately make it feel so much more than just a house.
If there is one thing that is underestimated for its home-like feeling, it’s casual furniture. Now, the first thing we will acknowledge is that we know that you may not be aware of what this is, but don’t worry, we are going to explain that right now.
Casual furniture is simply items of furniture that are completely different from anything else that you may have in the home. While you may have a lavish sofa that cost a fortune, there is nothing wrong with finding a few comfy bean bags in similar colors to really add a little casual feel to the home.
You can do this with many things in the home; it’s simply a matter of ignoring the expensive and bringing in something that makes the house feel a little more relaxed.
When it comes to art, there are generally two types of people that display it. The first kind of person will buy art simply because it’s expensive, and it enhances status; this is not the direction we encourage you to take; in fact, we want you to be more like the people in the second group.
This second group of people will often buy art because it appeals to them. The thing about art is, it should appeal to who we are and be an extension of our personalities. There is often a misconception that art needs to be expensive. The truth is, art can cost anything or even nothing if it’s something that you love, then buy it and display it in your home.
Another great tip if you are looking to add a personal touch to your walls is, go out and buy a few picture frames and simply print out some things that you love. Frame your print-outs and hang them around your home.
If you want them to look amazing, invest in a good grade and quality photo paper and print onto that. Something as simple as this can really change your home.
Bring In The Green
The final thing we are going to look at today is greenery. If you truly want to make your home look at feel like it’s yours, then something as simple as adding some plants to your home can really change things up in an instant.
Plants are one thing that people neglect to add to their home, and they are so much more than they seem. Plants not only add a wonderful aesthetic to the home, but they also have massive health benefits, and more than that, they can make your home feel fantastic.
People who keep a lot of plants in the home will often let in plenty of natural light and have plants scattered around the home quite generously.
Homes with a lot of plants will always have a more positive feeling, and your home could be one of these for a very low cost.
